The Anacaona Foundation Partners With Black Celebrity Giving For Diaper Drive Benefiting Haiti

The Anacaona Foundation – the organization launched by myself, my sister Dr. Didi Saint-Louis and our father Dr. Lafontaine Saint-Louis – is gearing up for its very first year of operation as a 501 (c) (3) and to get the ball rolling, we have partnered with BlackCelebrityGiving.com for our very first initiative.

From Saturday, December 10, 2011 to Tuesday, January 10, 2012, we will be collecting diapers and training pants of all sizes as well as baby wipes to donate to two very worthy causes in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I took the lazy path out of creating a blog that was about me and created a Tumblr… Really, it’s not lazy at all… just gives me a way to say more than I do on Twitter while working perfectly with my spastic thought processes. In any case, I dedicated the very first post to my Mommy… who’s 65 birthday would have been today…

This is the 14th year my mother’s birthday has rolled around without her being here. And this is the 1st year it dawned on me that I should celebrate EVERY August 15. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer somewhere around my 6th birthday. She died a month and a half after my 16th birthday....
